ehr ist es geradezu zwingend erforderlich, sich ein Bild darüber zu machen, inwieweit Vorurteile das Handeln und Denken von Christen gegenüber Juden bestimmte. Daher habe ich es als notwendig betrachtet, den ersten Teil meiner Arbeit den Hintergründen zur Entwicklung des Judenbildes zu widmen. Im zweiten Kapitel nehme ich dann Bezug auf Lessings Verhältnis zu Juden in der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts, in der Zeit, als das Stück entstand und die Situation der Juden allgemein.Im dritten Abschnitt beschäftige ich mich mit dem Stück an sich, beschreibe dargestellte Vorurteile, Bezüge auf reale Zustände, die Wirkung auf das Publikum und versuche abschließend zu resümieren, welche Resultate und Nachwirkungen „Die Juden“ mit sich brachte.Zur Quellensituation lässt sich sagen, dass zwar einiges über das Verhältnis Lessings zu Juden und sein Toleranzdenken zu finden ist. Jedoch nimmt ein Großteil der Literatur dabei Bezug auf „Nathan der Weise“, welches vielen Leuten wohl auch eher ein Begriff sein wird. Dennoch finden sich aber auch Abhandlungen über sein Frühwerk „Die Juden“.
